WELCOME TO THE CIRCUS!

return to home

Come in, come in, don't be shy! The circus is always waiting to give you a STUPENDOUS show... but only if you'll help us out a little with our management!

The Demon Dolls of Glasgrove Circus (title still in progress :3) is a visual novel I've been brewing for about a year now. It's going to be in progress for a WHILE still... but if you're interested in learning about these freaky little creatures and their good pals, read on for some character intros and screenshots!

An Intrepid (?) Protagonist

The star writer of (somewhat)(maybe) factual articles for small-time publication Poltergeist Weekly, Devon's been sent all over the map-- dark clearings in the woods in the middle of the night, abandoned schools that threated to fall down around her, the crawlspace in Old Man Frank's house, and now the ruins of an old circus that hasn't run in decades. She'd love to have hobbies outside of her job (she's particularly fond of poetry), but unfortunately she doesn't quite have the time for that right now. Someday she's gotta give a piece of her mind to that stinky little boss of hers...

A STUPENDOUS Aspiring Leader and Performer!

You might be wondering "Hey, who's this silly guy, and why do they look like a toy soldier-monster?" Well, that's a rude question. Despite their body of wood, The Ringmaster would be the first to tell you just how "down to Earth" and "totally" "chill" they are (that's how humans say it, right?). Well, regardless of any quirks, The Ringmaster is more serious than ANYONE about getting this circus off the ground. They'll put on the best show the town of Glasgrove has ever seen-- they have to, after all.

A Silent Prankster...?

Marvel as this strange and silent friend does a stunning backflip-- and hits you on the head with juggling balls at the same time! Despite showing the most promise as an actual performer, this court fool seems completely ambivalent about the circus's success. Their pranks might cause a couple minor hospital trips, but surely they don't mean anything bad by it-- just look at their winning smile! In all seriousness, don't let their plush and huggable ragdoll exterior fool you-- there's something behind those eyes of theirs that makes the hair stand up on your neck...

A Lazybones with Contagious Energy

Woah, is that a killer robot?! No, and that's VERY rude of you to say. Those sharp teeth are purely for the aesthetic, and their massive frame just makes them a great hugger! Though, uh, maybe just stay away from asking them to move any large objects or do any other kind of manual labor. But even if they do get a little frustrated with you, you can just give 'em a shiny coin or show 'em a cool card trick and they'll warm right up to you again! Their hobbies include laying on the ground staring at the sky, collecting little trinkets from the forest ground, and staring at said trinket collection. Ask them to show you acorns and you'll be occupied for HOURS.

A Reluctant Supporter-- and Trusted Friend

Wake up at 7:00 AM, go to work at her boring accounting job, come home at 7:00 at the earliest, watch soap operas and drink wine till midnight, go to bed, and repeat-- That's just the normal life for Olivia Vera Wurkt (she just thinks Vera sounds a little cooler). Of course, she's got her good friend Devon on her side to keep her entertained-- wait, what? Devon's gone off to work at the circus? And they need an accountant, you say? Oh, you CANNOT be serious...

A Confident and Kind Creative

Coming straight from her middle school teaching job, hauling construction materials on her shoulder, directing her (sometimes challenging) coworkers with her hand, thinking up designs in her head, and giving a bright smile to her good buds-- all in a day's work for her, y'know! Giving her all to even the most arduous and underappreciated jobs, Seth is the kind of gal who'll take any bad situation and make it into something bright and beautiful: the cute tattoo around the burn scar on her shoulder is a testament to that. But just don't let her take it too far-- sometimes it can get a little hard for her to leave a nasty situation.

An Overjoyed Paranormal Enthusiast!

Sitting in their studio apartment covered in cryptid and ghost hunting posters and clutching a Mothman plushie, Paula spends almost every night scouring the internet for scary stories and new paranormal sightings. And now you're telling them they get to work with three moving dolls, the likes of which the world has never seen?? And they can just like, hang out and talk to them? And wait a second, their boss is THE Devon R. Porter, the objectively best writer at mediocre magazine Poltergeist Weekly??? What a dream come true! Just, uh, forgive them if they get a little overexcited with their questions.
