THE OC & OLD COMIC HALL OF FAME

in my life, i have made many original characters (OCs). from paper dolls and daydreams as a tiny little baby to the three and a half abandoned comics i wrote in high school, i've created many a Silly Guy in my day (some more dear to my heart than others), and here i would like to catalogue these freaks for posterity. this is my legacy.......

these are organized in roughly reverse chronological order, so as you scroll things will get older and the art will get a little rougher... well, we all have to go through our little art journeys i guess.

but also if you wanna see the OCs that i'm actually still doing something with you can go here and look at my visual novel oooooo you wanna go look at my funny little freaks so bad ooooooo

CARSON & ELIZA

see these guys are cool cause they're from the only one of my comics currently available to read on tumblr!! you should check it out, it's not AMAZING or anything but it's definitely my best comic and it's got some good bits. i still love these characters for sure :] the episodic style made it waaaaaay easier to work on, and i developed a lot of fun art style things just for them, so it was a great time and a good way for me to work on something while slowly building up my skills + patience for my circus guys. love you, my cringefail girlies. you are sooooooo #sillay

FANTASY COMIC I NEVER ACTUALLY NAMED

this one had SOOOO much lore!! and similar to literally every other big project i've ever made, this one started with a funny little doodle i did in 11th grade physics class.
so, basically the deal with this was i wanted to make a demon character and then decided i wanted to put her in her own funny little story. so these four, each following their own personal quest, end up banding together to travel the world (yes, i drew maps), document different towns and cultures, fight some people sometimes, and take back extremely valuable cultural treasures. they're all outcasts in their own way and some of them secretly have battling interests, but how will that shake out as they all travel together and slowly bond? well, obviously, they all become great friends and take down the evil yucky fascist government and return the cultural artifacts to the people they originated from and all's well that end's well.

i wrote out lots and lots of lore and worldbuilding notes including a somewhat simple magic system surrounding grimoires, political systems and relations between the different nations of the world, and a brief history of world leaders and past wars, and then an outline of the entire story and dialogue for eight chapters. in the end i only ended up drawing 3 and a half chapters in a far too complicated art style before the motivation ran out, but i do still really love these characters (overdesigned as they may be) and i wanna draw them again some time soon :]

AVIKA
she/her | 26 | demon | record-keeper

avika is in the lowest ranking class of demon, the house of historians and record keepers. demon society is very matriarchal, so when avika used a wish that she earned for an act of bravery in order to physically transition into a woman, the other demons around her saw her as a disingenuous suck-up who only transitioned to get ahead in society. she was socially cast out, and so when she was offered a mission that would take her out of the demon's wastes, she took it without a thought. on the surface, she's supposed to visit every major city and town and update the demons' records of them. but secretly, she's meant to take back the powerful witch's grimoires being held in high security by powerful elven nations and bring them back to the demons to be used as a threat for war.

personality wise, avika is an upbeat and snarky person who tends to get overly familiar with new people and struggles to share her deeper emotions. woodrow was the first person she connected with outside of her homeland, and she was shocked by how quickly he adjusted to her presence and connected with her. she used to just like to make fun of him, but he grew on her, and now she really thinks of him as a little brother. she's a little thrown off by how similar naia can be to her, but likes to goof around with her and have a fun time. she also really admires the way naia is able to openly discuss her emotions and her past.

avika's relationship with valiance is complex. she originally liked to flirt with them because they were attractive and it was really fun to provoke them. but she eventually found herself wanting to protect their somewhat naive and trusting worldview, even while pulling them out from the brainwashing of their own home, and she even found herself becoming a bit more trusting and able to make deeper connections with others in the process. they ended up a pretty happy couple, but they do still love to bicker :]

WOODROW
he/him | 19 | elf | carpenter's apprentice

woodrow is a wood elf, a class not decided by species but by where he was born (the woods, obviously). elves of the woods are craftsmen and engineers who create commodities for the richer high elves on the mountain, and live under harsh taxation. woodrow grew up watching his father do work as the assistant to one of the town's finest carpenters-- but when his father fell ill, he had to take on a harsh job with long hours and poor treatment in order to provide for them both. he's tired and overworked, but he feels a strong urge to protect his vulnerable town and people like his father from the dangers in the woods and beyond, so he's been practicing his swordfighting in secret in the dead of night.

woodrow's always well prepared for any situation, even to the point of paranoia, and he's generally a little anxious and a little cynical. beyond this, though, he's a deeply caring and kind guy with a lot of resolve to protect the people he cares about and fight against injustice (even if he struggles to stand up for his own needs). after running into avika in the woods, his fear of her quickly turned to just generally finding her annoyingly upbeat and carefree. he still thinks she's a little annoying sometimes, but he also really admires her courage, optimism, and ability to change her mind and grow. he would never admit it, but he looks up to her a lot.

IMAGINATION OUTCASTS

imagination outcasts (or imagineout, as i called it) was a realistic fiction comic about four kids starting a band that i started writing on impulse when i was 16. while i don't really think the art or the story hold up like, at all, i do still have a lot of affection for what i was trying to do. also all of the art for the comic chapters was fully black and white which was kind of fun to figure out and taught me how to use clipping masks in procreate, so like. there was value there for sure!!

anyway, that first image is some very recent little redraws of these characters-- actually leaning into fun shapes and silhouettes in a way that i didn't back in the day. and below is an introduction to each of the characters!!

SATURN
they/she/he | 14 | bassist and songwriter

while i wanted to balance out the focus and make every character the main character, saturn was really the main protagonist of the comic. the focus tended to be on them, especially because they were the most separate from whatever weird backstory drama was happening with the other three. in that way she was able to be an audience surrogate, so it just made it easier to focus on her first. they're a very quiet, antisocial, yet snarky character, and they have a LOT of confidence in their musical skills despite still having a lot of insecurities about their songwriting. not super used to having friends, but they're trying their best.
